Joe's story

I have been challenged my whole life with being overweight.  Over the years, I have tried many different diets to try to lose weight to look and feel better.  Most of the times I would lose some weight (10-12lbs.) and feel a sense of accomplishment. Unfortunately, it was usually short-lived and I would gain back all of the weight and maybe even a few extra pounds.  It has been a vicious cycle to say the least!

A New Chapter

When I met my wife a little over 20 years ago, I weighed in at a whopping 255 pounds!  This was the highest I had ever weighed. For the first time in my life, I had someone else I wanted to look good for.  This started a whole new chapter in my life with regular exercise and changes in my diet. Over the next few years I was able to lose 40 pounds.

Over the next several years I maintained a lifestyle of regular exercise and a typical Standard American Diet.  My weight would go up and then I’d work to get it back down. This went on for years and I couldn’t figure out why this was happening.

The Blue Print

One day I decided to look up a local chiropractor to schedule an appointment for a shoulder pain that wasn’t getting better.  During my visit, he asked a lot of questions about my overall health. I told him about my recent frustration of wanting to lose the 10 pounds I had gained back over the last several months.  He asked me if I had heard of the Primal Blueprint. I had not. He told me to get the book. I was at a point of frustration to where I ordered the book through the Amazon app before I got to my car! (April 22, 2016)

After I received the book, I couldn’t put it down!  I immediately started to change my exercise and diet by following the Primal Blueprint.  It wasn’t long before I started to notice differences in my waistline, energy levels, hunger cravings, etc.  I continued to consume more and more information related to the new lifestyle I was adopting. Over the last three years, I have listened to hundreds of different podcast episodes and have read over 20 books and counting.

 

After I received the book, I couldn’t put it down!  I immediately started to change my exercise and diet by following the Primal Blueprint.  It wasn’t long before I started to notice differences in my waistline, energy levels, hunger cravings, etc.  I continued to consume more and more information related to the new lifestyle I was adopting. Over the last three years, I have listened to hundreds of different podcast episodes and have read over 20 books and counting.

Early on after getting involved with the Primal Blueprint, I subscribed to the Mark’s Daily Apple email list.  I started to receive new information regularly. Every now and again I would see an email about Primal Health Coaching and the certification program.  I actually took action and talked live with someone about what the program was all about. I didn’t sign up at the time. I have continued to receive the emails over the last year and it always piques my interest each time I see it.  I finally jumped in headfirst on October 27, 2018!!

My decision to pursue being a Certified Primal Health Coach is very clear to me.  First and foremost, I want to take my personal knowledge and overall health and well-being to the next level.  Second, I want to help family, friends and others like me who have spent their lives not feeling great about themselves and who have struggled with their weight.  The past few years have been eye-opening for me. I want to help others live an active, happy and fulfilling life. No matter where you are on your life’s journey, it is never too late to start to make changes for the better.
